MIT RING COMMITTEE

The MIT Brass Rat is a well known class ring that tells stories of years of the Institute's history and also preserves the traditions and quirks of each class that comes through the university by designing a unique class ring every year for that specific class. The task of designing the ring is given to each class's Ring Committee, a group of 12 students of that year who are selected by the Class Council and the previous Ring Committee.

The first task for every Ring Committee is the design of a unique logo that resembles the famous Brass Rat and also contains the class's graduation year hidden in the ring. As a designer on the 2022 Ring Committee, I designed the future logo to represent my committee and my class. I decided to create a traditional design that emphasized the curves and structure of the physical Brass Rat, with the number 22 on the bezel and the shank of the ring, formed by the reflection of light across the surfaces.
